By Henrik Ibsen, translated by Brian Johnston
Carnegie Mellon University, December 2007
This MFA thesis production focused on Mrs. Alving, one of Ibsen’s most fascinating female characters. She courageously confronts — and finally dismisses – the myths that have governed her life. Michael Kooman’s music underscored Mrs. Alving’s journey, the live sound of water on the central window provided Norwegian gloom, and a highly lacquered floor peopled the stage with specters.
